Chicago: Fall Fest’s finale has lower Booked Occupancy (Oct 26–Nov 1, 2026)
Chicago short-term rentals for Oct 26–Nov 1, 2026: Fall Fest continues through Sunday, but its closing night trails Friday in citywide Booked Occupancy.
Updated October 20, 2026
Fall Fest continues through Nov 1 in Chicago, Illinois. Does that make its closing night comparable to the rest of Halloween weekend for short-term rentals? The citywide readings give hosts a reason to distinguish the festival’s calendar from the nights guests have already reserved.
Fall Fest’s final Sunday has lower citywide Booked Occupancy than Friday in Chicago. For stays October 26, 2026–November 1, 2026, Wheelhouse data as of October 17, 2026 shows Booked Occupancy of 17.8% on November 1, 2026, versus 27.5% on October 30, 2026. These figures describe the share of nights already reserved, not final Occupancy or bookings gained over time.
Wheelhouse data shows that Sunday’s lower Booked Occupancy coincides with the week’s lowest Asking Rate, even as Fall Fest continues.
Sunday differs on price as well as Booked Occupancy
The contrast is not confined to Friday. Halloween Saturday, Oct 31, has Booked Occupancy of 26.8%, also above Sunday’s reading. The weekend’s closing night therefore stands apart from the adjacent stay dates, rather than merely trailing the week’s peak.
The advertised prices show a corresponding distinction: Sunday’s Asking Rate is $294, compared with $356 on Saturday and $359 on Friday. Asking Rates include fees and represent advertised nightly prices, not achieved ADR. Sunday is not a case of the highest advertised price paired with lower Booked Occupancy; it has the lowest Asking Rate in the entire stay window.
That makes Sunday worth assessing separately, but it does not settle whether an individual property should change its price. Sunday also has more time remaining until arrival than Friday or Saturday; that timing difference is a fact, not an explanation for the gap.
Fall Fest continues beyond the higher-booked nights
Lincoln Park Zoo schedules Fall Fest across Oct 30–Nov 1, with its final day on November 1, 2026. Sunday’s lower Booked Occupancy therefore cannot be read as an absence of seasonal programming.
Saturday has its own distinct occasion: the Northalsted Business Alliance schedules the Haunted Halsted Halloween Fest & Parade for October 31, 2026. That helps distinguish the calendar surrounding the stay dates, but the listings establish event schedules—not attendance, overnight stays or a measured rental premium.
For the analyzed stays, October 26, 2026–November 1, 2026, the grounded conclusion is narrower: seasonal activities continue through Sunday, while the higher citywide Booked Occupancy and Asking Rates are on Friday and Saturday. Weekday differences remain a competing explanation; the event calendar alone cannot separate them from event-related booking choices.

Does your own Sunday warrant the same distinction?
Use Wheelhouse Dynamic Sets to assemble relevant comparable rentals and inspect their context for Oct 30–Nov 1. The question is whether comparable properties also distinguish Sunday from the preceding nights—not whether your listing matches the Chicago average.
Separately, use Wheelhouse Performance Analytics to review your own bookings for those dates. Check confirmed booked rates and booking activity alongside cancellations and blocks, keeping eligible nights consistent. If comparable historical records exist, compare each date with its own same-weekday reference at matching time remaining until arrival; do not treat a Friday-to-Sunday difference as evidence of booking pickup.
Sunday is the date to investigate, not an automatic discount candidate. If relevant comparable rentals and your own booking records support maintaining its current positioning, the citywide gap alone is insufficient reason to change it. If both point to weaker Sunday performance, that is stronger grounds for reassessing the date than Fall Fest’s closing-day label.
